DLRP Speaker Help

Hi everyone,

maybe there are some audio experts that can help me with that one...

DLRP currently uses two types of mushroom speakers... The Bose Freespace 51 http://www.all4bar.com/de/bose-pro-freespace-51-xml-271-6812.html and some sort of older omnispeakers (also by Bose) - i did find information on the Freespace versions but not on the older ones with the "round hat" as seen in my picture

Does someone know which speaker model this is? Is it still in production?

Thanks, everyone!

It has a logo on the top (you can´t see it good on the last picture), but on this one...

In fact, i checked quite a lot of the mushroom speakers in the park and on about 80 % of them someone had scratched the company logo off the speaker, to make it un-readable - Still wondering why, anyway - some of the speakers still have the original logo on them (see picture above).

No, i didn´t contact Bose yet, maybe i will if nobody knows the model/type...

I did a quick check of the old Bose web site pages on Archive.org and I only found the Freespace 51 starting in 2004.  Curiouser and curiouser...

Maybe the older version was a "special order" item originally and then Bose decided to make it more generally available?

All I can offer as I had never seen that logo - Duh! - is that most have been there since the park opened (you get to know them as old friends). It's probably unlikely that 21 year old speakers would still be in production but you never know. I'd always presumed that the speakers were the standard ones used in the US parks (Soundscape?). Looking on various sites and reading reviews, it seems that the 51 has been in production for around 10 years (at least the comments like "I've had these for seven years now" don't date back before around the 2004 mark). It's quite possible that around that time DLRP upgraded some of their dud speakers (DLRP speakers are very unreliable with many being poor quality/volume or just plain not working!). They may well have a contract with Bose as, reading around, they seem to use Bose a lot for their various speakers - including for the parades.
An email to DLRP may work. They are (or, at least, were) very helpful over things like this.
