Frontierland Area Music Track
« on: June 14, 2017, 09:21:17 AM »

I need some help identifying a Frontierland Area Music track. I cannot find it on a list of Frontierland Area Music Loops websites. The file is says frontierland_area_music_Apache. I guess this might be from the 2001 Area Music. I can upload the file if anyone needs help on identifying it better. Thanks for the help.

I just have the track. I do not know what song is before or after the song in the loop. I think it has to be from Disneyland, WDW, or Disneyland Paris because I have had this file for a while now before the other two Disney Parks opened up. Here is the track.

Thanks again for the help.

It's an odd version of the theme from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" but it doesn't sound very Disney Park-ish. Too contemporary, maybe? I've certainly never heard it before.

It's the Ned Nash Orchestra synth cover of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" theme.  It's from Disneyland Paris since I heard it in one of Filip Van Tyghem's videos and because it's listed in the DLP Frontierland track list that eyore posted ;D:

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

A "jazz pops" arrangement by Hugo Montenegro and his Orchestra. If I understand the legend, Hugo got his record into the stores long before the official Ennio Morricone OST was available in the U.S., so Hugo's version made it to #2 in the Billboard 100.

Edit: It may be the Ned Nash recording as pixelated noted, but it's definitely Hugo Montenegro's up-tempo arrangement, almost note for note. Montenegro was also a Moog/synth pioneer.

Hmm, Shazam says it's by the High School Music Band, Western Collection Vol. 1.
I haven't dug out the Ned Nash Orchestra CD to compare it yet.

Okay I found it it was the Western Colleciton Vol. 1. I guess it is still from Disneyland Paris Frontierland Loop.

just to confirm, it's NOT from Paris. I agree with Pixelated about the High School Band CD. I have the actual track from DLRP and it's no way that one plus the actual DLRP track has heavy SFX throughout  (horse walking and gunshots) mixed in.  Don't know of this version in any of the parks I'm familiar with unless hey have made a new loop since 2013 when I was last at DLRP

Where did the track you have come from (ie where did you get it)
This is the DKRP track minus the SFX (from the CD)

Shazam seems to be correct. It can be found on here ( for example )

https://www.amazon.com/Morricone-Western-Collection-Vol-1/dp/B00AUMAW06
( track 5 - says "by The Royal Orchestra" )

I actually compared the sample from amazon against the sample provided and they match.

BTW - the ID3 tag is wrong. The tag says "Apache" from Once Upon a Time in the West

I do not really remember where I got it. I think it was a newsgroup.

another reason why a minimum of a live recording is required for ID purposes  ;D
As I said, the area loop is full of SFX which really adds to the mood. It's actually my favourite loop from the park and gets played most days in the car/
