Any help would be appreciated
« on: December 02, 2010, 06:26:37 AM »

Okay, so I'm trying to download this video of a "kitchen of tomorrow" (http://www.history.com/videos/kitchen-of-tomorrow) for a Sci-Fi Dine-in movie remake I'm doing (well, not remake just a touch up where I can). Anyway, I can't download it and it appears that only this program can do it:

Replay Media Catcher 4
(http://www.applian.com/download-videos/)

My thing is that I don't want to shell out $40 for a program that I'll only use once (ironically, pretty much the only music and movies I watch are from here... is that sad?). So, any ideas for how to get this one video?

Thanks in advance.

Use safari. It has a feature whereby you can monitor any files your browser is downloading, including flash and flash video files. Through that you can either find the exact location of the video file on the website server and download it directly, or more likely it's already cached on your hard drive somewhere and you can simply grab it from there.

Which browser are you using now? It does make a difference.  Some sites are rather difficult.  If all else fails, CAMSTUDIO, its fee and you can screen capture.  Oh replay media catcher only got the loader file when I tried.

Spent half the day trying for this one (I do like a challenge)  :D
Couldn't find anything that worked (and I do have several programs that usually do manage this sort of thing - some free, some paid for). I use Firefox as a browser. The best I could manage was this with the suggested program (Camstudio).
I daresay you could get it at better quality as I just saved is as an avi file (16mb) and it lost somethjing in the translation, I think.  :D .

At least it's free but do keep the cursor out of the frame  :-[

What do I do with that info???
I copied the script and pasted into the second link and got

The input is not a valid Base-64 string as it contains a non-base 64 character, more than two padding characters, or a non-white space character among the padding characters.

I have no idea what I am doing, of course  :D

If you can dream then you can do... I did... AND I DID!!!

I finally got it using a mix of Firefox and some other stuff that I don't want to mention on here for potential legal reasons. Anyway, BACK TO WORK ME THAT SCI-FI MOVIE ISN'T GOING TO REBUILD ITSELF!!!  :D
