I have Sony Fontopia MDR-EX71SL earbuds. They are discontinued so you'll have to find the replacement model. Their list retail price was $50; I got them for $35. Pretty good bass response for earbuds.
Sorry, can't recommend ear buds - they won't stay in for me. I use the ones with "over the ear" clips. Wish they made binaural mics with that type of fastening. We have Skullcandy over here which are pretty good but beware of pulling them out too fast (vacuum disturbs the bits inside). http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003CVW7VO
Half price! They also include a mic.
Unfortunately they won't stay in my ears!!!!
You should check the product reviews over at Head Room - http://www.headphone.com/. You can easily compare and sort prices there too.
Personally, though, I HATE buds. I even tried some Shure in-ear phones and couldn't stand them, so I ended up getting some full-sized Shure cans. Perhaps they aren't ideal for portable use, but they feel and sound pretty darn great.
I agree - I hate earbuds (including the new ones Apple came out with), but when I have to use them, I use Skull Candy - relatively inexpensive, great sound, and comfortable.
As I said, I can't keep them in. Good to hear you have skullcandy over there.
My personal earphones are the JVC HA-EB75 which I find comfortable and decent sound with bass boost.
For the low price, worth a test. I can guarantee that they will remain in place even on the hardest ride (I forgot to take mine off after checking a recording) http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HAEB75S-Sports-Headphone-Silver/dp/B003AIL2HO
