Hey everyone,

Thanks so much for all of the replies!  I'm a bit slow with my responding, but I finally got a chance to read through all of the helpful responses.  I forgot to mention that I have an iPhone 6.

I do realized that most of what is at WDW is probably readily available here at MouseBits, but I thought that I might try to record some stuff, knowing that it probably won't be for anything other than my own pleasure.  I'm thinking stuff like, bus audio, maybe a ride through of something, voices of liberty, dapper dans, etc.   I'm not going to have time to record any loops, as my 3 and 1 year old will take priority.  Combine that with not wanting to spend ridiculous amounts on money on extra equipment and for right now, I'll record as it comes along, but probably won't be making a huge effort to go out of my way for anything.

That being said, I did see that someone earlier posted some links to various monopods, etc.  This had interested me as I thought by putting my iPhone on one of those and extending it, I could get a better viewpoint to record video of my daughters on their new adventures at Disney.  I figure that would be easier that constantly trying to stay in front of them.  Something like this:  http://www.amazon.com/iStabilizer-ISTMP01-Extendable-Smartphone-Monopod/dp/B008BSCWXQ/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t

Finally... someone has incorporated a wired (vs. Bluetooth) remote shutter release into a telescoping extension:

That might actually fit current generation as well (though 6+ would be unlikely), they probably haven't updated the page.

You might be able to MacGyver something to accomodate an iPhone 6 or iPod with large binder clips:

If I recall, the last time Apple touched the ipod touch was before the 5, which has a different body shape, at the same time you probably wouldn't be able to get that device past security without raising several questions.

You mean you can't get the extension thingies past security?  I started seeing them in the Parks a couple of years ago with a few gizmo-heads using them and now a good number of people are walking around with them.  Another instance of "human see, human do".
At least smartphones are smaller than tablets so people shooting videos on their phones are less annoying than tablet users during shows and parades.

I actually emailed him and he said that they are working on it and that it should be ready by Christmas.  Unfortunately, that doesn't do my trip in 19 days much good.

no, but think how much fun you'll have next trip and, for this trip, make notes of where it would have been ideal (and write them down, from experience I know you'll forget    )

How about this extension?  It works with small cameras, GoPros and smartphones.  And it's cheaper than that iStabilizer extension.  It seems that many things that start with a lowercase 'i' automatically cost more.

that doesn't  have any way of controlling anything. I bought an extender which is great with the self timer on an ordinary camera but not so good for videos without editing the bits where it gets lifted and brought back down again.  I daresay I could easily make a holder for the iPod to attach it to it. Self timers don't really capture that "special" shot though.
